As much as cats like to clean themselves, they can still harbor all sorts of strange diseases that can threaten your own health to the point where you might actually believe that the risk of taking drugs with numerous side effects could be beneficial. In San Diego, a cat has been diagnosed with tularemia, also known as ‘rabbit fever,’ which is a potentially dangerous bacterial disease that people can contract by being bitten by infected ticks or from touching or being bitten by an infected animal.

To prevent your cat from getting infected, keep it indoors and away from areas where ticks might live, which is practically anywhere out in the wild that looks like fun. You might also want to keep your cat clean with frequent baths and then render first aid to yourself after your cat claws your arm up for trying to give it a bath.
