For some odd reason, there’s an old wives tale that says cats and babies can’t live together because the cat may suffocate the baby in search of milk. Many people even get rid of their cat as soon as they have a baby because they want to protect their baby from the cat.
So a woman decided to run an experiment by placing great milk, infant formula, and regular milk in dishes to see if her cats would drink them. Not surprisingly, the cats ignored the milk, helping dispel the myth that cats would suffocate a baby in an attempt to get at its milk.
So if you have a baby and a cat, the baby is safe from the cat but the cat may not necessarily be safe from the baby. Just be aware that you can safely have both in your house at the same time.
