The idea of a difficult task often brings to mind the idea of herding cats. Since cats pretty much do what they want, herding cats has now become slang for attempting to do the impossible.
For those of you who didn’t catch it on your calendar, December 15 was declared National Cat Herder Day. The goal of this pseudo-holiday is to get people to attempt the impossible whether it’s bringing peace to the Middle East or just getting a roomful of cats to cooperate on anything. If you fail, at least you failed attempting the impossible, so there’s some consolation in just making the effort.
