In the American Southwest, travelers once reported spotting a strange bobcat-like animal with thorn-like fur, sharp bones protruding from its front legs, and a branched tail. Dubbed the cactus cat, the strange creature supposedly slashes open cacti to drink the sap and get drunk. Then the cactus cat stumbles around the Southwestern desert.
While nobody has seen a cactus cat, perhaps they’re breeding them in Area 51. Otherwise the origin of the cactus cat is likely more a case of cowboys getting drunk and seeing strange objects in the desert.
