The average cat lives approximately 10 years. However, Poppy managed to live a record-breaking 24 years. Her secret? Diet and exercise.

“She is partial to the odd takeaway,” Poppy’s owner, Jacqui West said. “We sometimes give her a bit of KFC chicken, fish and chips and even the odd bit of kebab meat.”

If your cat has lived longer than 10 years, it’s above average. Be sure to cherish your cat’s remaining years so that way you’ll be well trained to take care of a new cat later when you get one to replace your current cat, and then you can repeat the cycle of insanity all over again.
