According to BusinessWeek, Americans spend an average of 40 minutes a day on Facebook but only 39 minutes a day taking care of their pets. That either translates into lots of online social interaction or a lot of ticked off animals who will take out their frustration by urinating on the carpet and wrecking your drapes.

If you find yourself addicted to Facebook, take a few moments to play with your pet as well. If you simply can’t tear yourself away from Facebook, consider setting up a Facebook page for your pet. That way you can communicate with your pet while still using Facebook.

Of course, Facebook can’t substitute for actual interaction with your pet, so set some time aside to play with your pet too. Your pet will appreciate it and all your so-called “friends” on Facebook probably won’t even notice if you spend a little less time on Facebook and a little more time with your pet.
