Westminster has a rodent infestation problem. To solve this, many people have suggested bringing in one or more cats to hunt down and kill the rodents in a natural manner. Unfortunately, John Thurso, a Liberal Democrat MP, told the Commons a report into the matter found it would pose “very clear practical and technical difficulties”.

The rodent infestation problem is so large that experts say it would require a herd of cats to deal with the problem. Then dealing with so many cats roaming freely through Westminster would create its own problems such as litter box cleanings and workers wanted to spend their time playing with the cats instead of doing any actual work during the day. Unlike most people in government, at least the cats would have been willing to work for free.
