The cat cafe phenomenon started in Taiwan and quickly spread throughout Asia before slowly working its way across Europe and North America. Now Vancouver, Canada will be the latest North American city to offer a cat cafe of its own.

Cat-sitter and cat photographer Michelle Furbacher announced the coming cat cafe in her blog.

“It’s official,” she wrote. “The City of Vancouver has approved our permit application, and we will be starting construction and renovations in the next couple of weeks!”

Furbacher has teamed up with the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association who will supply adoptable cats for the “Catfé”.
