Most people want a domesticated cat to adopt, yet many cats are feral and older, which means they’ll be far less likely to be sociable with humans. That’s why the Faithful Friends Animal Society started Barn Buddies, a program that places feral and semi-feral cats in horse barns, greenhouses, warehouses and other unconventional homes.

The goal is to place feral cats in a home that requires the use of their hunting skills to keep the rodent population down. This way the feral cats get an independent life but still get access to food, water, and shelter when they need it.
