Many cats need good homes. Unfortunately, many cats don’t want to be stuck inside a home. Such feral cats prefer to roam wild, but still need a good home. In the past, feral cats were often euthanized but in Austin, there’s a new program called Barn Cats.
The idea behind Barn Cats is to give feral cats a good home while letting live outside and hunt down rodents, typically around a barn. The cats catch rodents in return for shelter, food, and water. While such barn cats may never be friendly to humans, they know enough to do their job and have a safe place to live.
