The next time you visit Disneyland, look for a cat. Although Disneyland doesn’t advertise their cat population, estimated at approximately 200, there is actually a feral population of cats that live in Disneyland.
When you have a place like Disneyland, it’s inevitable that all the restaurants will attract mice. To keep the rodent population down, Disneyland initially relied on exterminators but they also had a second problem. Feral cats kept coming on to the property.
Putting two and two together, Disneyland decided to care for the feral cats in return for letting the feral cats roam freely on the property at night where they hunt and kill the mice. During the day, most of the feral cats hide from humans so they only appear when the park if mostly empty at night.
