Hemi was just a kitten when Jennifer and her Marine husband, Robert, found him curled up on their car’s engine block at their home near Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station. The couple kept Hemi until 2011 when he suddenly disappeared.

The family moved from North Carolina to North Dakota when they got a call from a veterinarian asking, “Are you missing Hemi?”

A woman apparently found Hemi hanging around her house and when he was brought in to the animal shelter, they discovered his microchip embedded under his skin. That led them to calling Jennifer and Robert.

Now a friend will take Hemi by jet to his original owners. Where Hemi had been all this time remains unknown, but finally he’ll be reunited with his family once more.
