The Japanese seem to love cats as a nation. Now tourists and shoppers alike are flocking to a tobacconist north of Tokyo to visit Hachi, a cat that has ”lucky eyebrows”.

The cat’s eyebrows resemble the Japanese character for the number 8, which is considered a lucky number in Japanese culture. The tobacconist’s owner, Kaori Hasegawa, adopted Hachi in the hope that she would bring some luck to local businesses affected by the disaster in the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant..

“A lot of people have told me that good things happened to them after they saw Hachi’s face,” Hasegawa said.

If you happen to be in Japan, drop by and visit Hachi. Then let us know if your luck has changed for the better after visiting Hachi.
