For the past 16 years, Junior has comforted numerous patients and brought relief to those who need it the most. Unlike most hospital workers, Junior is a 17-year old cat who was recently given the University Health System’s volunteer of the year award in 2014.

His owner said, “He was rescued down on a farm in the Rio Grande valley, and dumped there as a kitten. I’ve had him ever since and he’s just been an incredible cat, and so cut out for the work he does.”
