Because of antiquated superstitious beliefs, many people believe that if a black cat crosses your path, you’ll have bad luck. That’s why black cats are harder for animal shelters to adopt out to good homes, yet black cats make wonderful pets.

The San Jose Sharks, an NHL team currently in the playoffs, got their own experience with a black cat recently when a black cat managed to get on the ice rink before the game started. The venue’s staff safely rescued the cat and dubbed it Joe Paw-velski, after Sharks captain Joe Pavaleski, the team announced Sunday.

The San Jose Sharks later went on to win the game by a score of 5-2 so expect toes more of Joe the black cat at future San Jose Sharks hockey games.
