The Japanese seem to love cats. So when Japanese cat homeowners renovate their homes, they’re likely to create cat pads, specially designed book cases, shelves, and walkways just for their pet cats to enjoy.
“Owners should understand the nature of cats before creating a living environment (for them),” said Mitsuru Shimizu, who heads the Wan-nyan Kenko Jutaku Kenkyujo design office, based in Tokyo, which offers housing solutions so people and their pets can live together.
