Many people love cats but cringe at the thought of their pet killing birds, rodents, and lizards that they may find around the house. Some people tie bells to their cat’s collar to warn off potential prey, but now there’s a new possible solution that involves genetic engineering.

The idea is to breed a cat that won’t hunt. Such cats would likely evolve thumbs so they could open their own cans of cat food, but the point is that genetically engineered cats could be less inclined to hunt. The question is what would they do if they’re caught outside with no access to food?
