It’s no secret that medical expenses keep climbing to the point where it’s probably cheaper for a person to visit a veterinarian than to visit an actual doctor. However, when Kathy Lee, nicknamed “Miss Kitty,” discovered her cat Elvis had cancer in 2014, she told veterinarians to do everything they could to save the cat. After spending $20,000, Miss Kitty now has a healthy and happy Elvis.

“Maybe this sounds weird to people, but he’s really like my little three-legged soulmate,” said Lee, who receives monthly allergy shots to maintain her menagerie. “He reads me and I can read him. I’ve never had a connection with an animal like I have with (Elvis).”

If you think your medical costs are too high, just remember that no amount of money is too much to care for someone or something you love.
