Cat lovers appreciate different types of cats from the long hair Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest cat to the hairless Sphynx cat that looks like it needs a sweater to stay warm. Yet one type of cat that even scientist know little about is the Arabian Sand Cat.

What makes the Arabian Sand Cat unique is that it doesn’t need to drink water because it has adapted to getting all the hydration it needs from the small birds, reptiles and mammals that it hunts. It doesn’t get bothered by all that sand either, as it has special hairs in its ears and on its paws keep the sand out.

Although Arabian Sand Cats aren’t available at your local animal shelter, consider adopting any cat in its place. Perhaps one day if the Arabian Sand Cat becomes more numerous, you’ll be able to have one of your very own.
