In early October, the Jacksonville Humane Society shelter in Florida rescued a cat and put it up for adoption. Unfortunately, no one claimed the animal until a man came to the shelter, looking for a cat to replace his own missing cat named Misty.

“We weren’t really sure why she was having such a hard time finding a home, but as it turns out, there was a very special reason,” the Humane Society said.

It turns out the man recognized Misty as the cat stuck in the shelter since October. Misty has now been microchipped and is back home where she belongs, just in time for Christmas. If you have a cat, get it microchipped. You never know when the microchip might help you reunite with your cat just in case chance can’t do it for you.
