Cats typically don’t wait for you to get up. Instead, most cats gently coerce their owners into waking up to feed them. Of course, this process of waking its owners up often goes through several stages, none of which are particularly beneficial to the owner.

First there’s the gently paw in the face stage. Next may come the stage where the cat simply takes up most of the bed and makes you so uncomfortable you’d rather be out of bed than in it.

Another stage might be scratching the door or meowing so loudly that you absolutely can’t stand it any longer and may question why you ever got a cat in the first place. If this sounds like your typical morning with your cat, congratulations! Your cat has thoroughly broken your spirit and bent your will to its own devious purposes.
