Marian, a cat from Mendocino County, California, had caught a snake and apparently swallowed it alive. In an attempt to escape, the snake managed to climb into the cat’s sinus cavity and made a desperate bid for freedom by slipping out through the cat’s nose.

Fortunately Marian’s owner was around and managed to pull the snake out of the cat’s nose. While the cat was unharmed by the incident, there’s no word yet on how the snake fared.

Perhaps Marian should learn the lesson that chewing your food is crucial and that food is best eaten when it’s definitely dead.
