85-year old Ruby Stein took a wrong turn on 21 March while driving in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. While trying to find the interstate, she got lost and wound up stuck in a mud and snow-covered road.

The great-grandmother had no phone signal, and her car battery died after she continuously flashed the lights and honked the horn in hope of rescue. So for the next five days, she stayed in her car with her cat, Nikki, and rationed her food.

When temperatures dropped below freezing, she held Nikki and wrapped herself in clothes that she formed into a blanket. Fortunately, hikers found her and Nikki so both are now safe.
