If you’ve ever had a cat in your lap, you may recognize the familiar kneading motion that many cats do with their front paws. While this seems to serve no useful purpose, one theory is that cats do this to mark their territory, which means you now belong to your cat.

Another theory on why cats knead is because of their instinct to make a place softer to lay down on such as grass. Kneading grass tends to shred it and make it fluffier to sleep on. Then again, cats may knead just to keep you confused and wondering why cats are trying to mess with your mind.
