Virginia Smith, who has mild dementia as well as mobility problems and needs 24-hour care, had owned cats for most of her life. Unfortunately, when she moved to assisted-living, she had to leave her cats behind.

To celebrate his mom’s birthday, Virginia’s son, James, decided to buy his mother a robotic cat from Hasbro. Surprisingly, Virginia readily embraced the robotic cat to keep her company. If a robot cat can keep a woman happy, perhaps a robot cat (or a real one) could help increase happiness to other people around the world as well.
