When the Chatham County Animal Shelter in North Carolina rescues most stray cats, its’ obvious that the stray cats had to fend for themselves for food and water. That’s why shelter officials are puzzled when someone dropped off a 30-pound cat and claimed it was a stray.

The cat obviously was well taken care of with food but there are no microchip or other forms of identification. Shelter officials said if no one claims the cat within a week, they’ll put it up for adoption. Hopefully the cat’s new owners will put it on a diet and give it exercise to get its weight down to a reasonable level.
