Buddy is a 7-month-old feral found near a warehouse last year in York. That’s when someone dropped him into a box and put him by Steve Swartz’s desk at the heating and air-conditioning company where he works, across the street.

Steve loved cats and now with Buddy, he decided to train Buddy to enjoy the outdoors with him as he goes kayaking, camping, backpacking, stand-up paddleboarding, and photographing nature.

Steve and Buddy are helping redefine what people think of cats. Many people think cats are either feral and wild, or locked indoors, but many owners are taking their cats with them outdoors. If your cat gets bored inside, perhaps you can start training your cat to walk outside on a leash too.
