If a cat doesn’t have positive human interaction within the first two months of its life, it may see humans as scary, fearful creatures to avoid. Obviously such skittish cats don’t make very good pets so if you have a cat that’s skittish, you can help make it feel safe and be more sociable.

First, make the kitty feel safe. Once a cat feels safe, then gradually develop trust by giving it treats or toys. Always make sure you stay low because the lower you are, the less threatening you’ll be. More importantly, blink when looking at your cat because a constant stare looks like a predator’s gaze. Given enough time and constant effort, you can turn any skittish kitty into a friendlier pet.
