Cats are picky creatures. Still if you like cats, it’s only natural to want the cat to like you back. The best way to do that is to let the cat bend your will to its demands and dominate your life so completely that you’ll never even have an idea of what free will might be ever again.
Some other ways to get a cat to like you is to pet it in places that cats like such as under the chin or the cheeks. In general, if you treat your cat like the demanding despot that it is, you and the cat should get along just fine.
