A man was bitten by a stray cat that tested positive for rabies last week. That’s why a group called Responsible Animal Care USA (RAC) wants a statewide law forcing people to license their cats. The goal is to ensure that cats have had the appropriate vaccinations to help prevent the spread of dangerous disease and illness.

Of course, cat licensing would also bring additional revenue into the government (likely the real reason) while stray cats would still be unlicensed since cats need an owner to license them. Since cats have avoided licensing in the past, cat owners are likely to fight this ban so they can enjoy more cats without government licensing restrictions.
