Abi Harmon’s 4-year old cat, Bernard, went failed to come home one night. When Harmon stepped outside to look for the cat, Bernard looked back from his view on a 40-foot tall wooden utility pole, above a web of electrical wiring.

What followed was a futile bureaucratic nightmare as nobody wanted to rescue the cat due to the live voltage wires nearby. Firefighters declined along with the police. Even the utility company failed to respond until Harmon contacted a local council member, who contacted the utility company.

Within minutes. the utility company sent a bucket truck out to rescue the cat. Why the utility company didn’t do that earlier remains a mystery, but now Bernard is safe from both being stranded and from dealing with government bureaucracy as well.
