As kittens, cats gradually learn to walk fairly quickly, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that scientists have created a robot, modeled after a cat, that learned how to walk in far less time.

EPFL, a research institute in Switzerland, developed the robot nicknamed “Nixie” at the University of Stavanger in Norway. Machine learning efficiency allows “Nixie” to relearn to walk even if the chassis is damaged.

Now that we can create robotic cats that can walk, when will we create robotic cats that wake us up in the morning, begging to be fed?
