There re multiple problems with unwanted pets. First, too many unwanted pets must be put down for lack of a good home. Second, many unscrupulous breeders treat animals as products to profit from and don’t care about their well-being.

That’s why in 20129, California will require all pet stores to sell only rescue animals. That way more homeless animals can increase their chances of finding forever homes while also limiting the profit margin of breeders who only care about selling animals for money.
