Many people don’t realize that firefighters are not only trained to put out fires and save human lives, but they also can save animal lives as well. That’s why many firefighters carry special oxygen masks for pets and that special oxygen mask helped save a cat caught in a fire in New Hampshire.

Firefighter Matt Demers used a specially designed oxygen mask to resuscitate the cat, which was later transported to an emergency veterinary service facility by Concord police officer Jennifer Carew. The cat was reportedly doing well Sunday night.

The next time you see a firefighter, give thanks for their hard work and make sure they have special oxygen masks for pets. The life they save next could be your own pet.
