Cats are essentially cute, furry creatures with razor blades at the end of their toes. If you like the idea of cuddling a switchblade-wielding maniac, then you probably like cats.
The problem is that cats can scratch furniture so you need to protect your furniture and provide a safe outlet to satisfy your cat’s scratching behavior. One way is to provide plenty of scratching posts. A second way is to discourage a cat from scratching important furniture through sticky tape. A third way is to just assume everything in your house will be destroyed by your cat anyway.
