It’s easy to teach dog to fetch. Surprisingly, it’s not that hard to teach a cat to fetch either. That’s because cats already enjoy bringing things to their owners but those things are usually dead rodents or birds.

Dr. Andrea Tu, who is the medical director and a resident in animal behavior at NYC-based Behavior Bets, said, “It’s a misperception that cats can’t be trained. Cats can easily be trained. You just have to understand cats.”

Training is about reinforcing the behavior you want to see, so make your kitty feel special every time it fetches a toy back to you. This can make play time fun for your cat and give your cat exercise as well.
