Cats have a way of taking over any house regardless of the owners’ wishes. So if your cat climbs on furniture that you don’t want it on, you might as well get rid of that furniture. If you don’t want to do that, then consider finding other ways to keep cats off furniture.
One way is to place tin foil on the surface. That way when cats jump on it, they dislike the noise the tin foil makes. You can also balance cookie sheets on the edge so a cat will knock it over and jump away when the cookie sheet falls and makes a noise.
Then again, you might as well resign yourself to having a cat boss you around. After all, that’s why you got a cat in the first place, right?
