Although Disney’s latest efforts to turn their animated films into live-action movies has been grating on people’s nerves lately, “The Lion King” still managed to earn a hefty profit this past weekend, most likely because it involves large cats.

Although Disney might assume that their movies are doing well because they’re based on animated films that so many people love, the truth may be
“The Lion King” is doing particularly well because people just love cats. Perhaps we’ll see the response when “Cats: the Musical” appears in theaters, but until then, any movie with a cat in it will likely be viewed positively by many people all over the world.
