Teresa Seals said when her elderly father wanted an inside pet, they checked out the Claiborne County Animal Shelter website to look for cats. Seals said her father picked out a rescue cat named Shelly and took it home. 

Then one night, Tersa’s father heard the cat attacking something and thought it had found a mouse. When the father’s sitter showed up that day, they found a dead copperhead snake under a table. Apparently Shelly had found and killed the snake before it could attack anyone in the house, so Shelly is now a hero.

Saving a rescue cat and giving it a good home is always nice, but it’s a bonus when that rescue cat turns around and saves your life as well.
