Any cat can make a good companion but some breeds seem better suited for indoor, domesticated life than others. If you have a choice, get yourself a cat that’s friendly regardless of its breed.
However some breeds can be friendlier than others and may exhibit certain characteristics that you might find appealing. For example, a Ragdoll cat is generally much mellow than the typical cat, which might be a good companion for children.
