Sadly, prejudice extends to both humans and animals. Black cats are less likely to be adopted than cats of other colors because people are superstitious about black cats, despite no evidence that black cats are unlucky.
To help promote the plight of black cats, many people are promoting various Black Cats Matter posters, coffee mugs, and T-shirts. Hopefully this phrase won’t offend anyone but simply point out the injustice that black cats face compared to cats of other colors.
If you want to rescue a cat, consider a black cat as well as cats of any other color. Once you adopt a black cat, you’ll see that black cats are no better (or worse) than cats of any other color.
