You may have heard of cat cafes and animal shelters, but in Amsterdam, there’s a floating cat sanctuary. On this boat, visitors can hang out with cats and if they like one or more, they can even adopt the felines.
The Catboat started back in 1966 when its founder, Mrs. Henriette van Weelde, took in a family of stray cats along the Herengracht canal. Once she realized she could create a sanctuary on a houseboat, the Catboat was born.
