A woman in Iowa owned a cat named Mr. Tufts that recently died. Since she loved Mr. Tufts so much, she decided to have her deceased pet cloned.
Living tissue samples were collected by Dr. Kevin Christman of Cedar Valley Veterinary Center in Cedar Falls and sent along to ViaGen Pets in Cedar Park, Texas.
Mr. Tufts Jr. is now 9 months old. ViaGen said cloned pets maintain the same appearance, intelligence and temperament as the animals they are cloned from.
