Sandi Martin was playing with her cat, Lilly, when Lilly stopped to go sniff the fireplace valve. Curious, Sandi and her husband sniffed that area and caught a faint whiff of natural gas.

The couple called the gas company, which told them to open the windows and turn everything off. If their cat hadn’t detected the gas leak, the gas could have accumulated and caused an explosion so Lilly saved her owner’s life.
