A woman in Oregon, Kate Felmet, has a cat named Esme. When most cats go outside, they often bring back dead birds or rodents. Fortunately when Esme goes out, she just brings back items she’s stolen from the neighbors such as gloves, bathing suits, and face masks.
While Kate doesn’t want Esme to start killing small animals and bringing them home, she does want to warn her neighbors that if anything is missing, it could be because Esme took it. When Esme steals a glove, she almost always goes back and takes the second one too to get a matching pair. Now Kate has put up a sign, warning of Esme’s activities and leaving the stolen items in her yard for people to retrieve them.
