Although cats generally keep themselves clean, you may need to give your cat a bath if it gets too dirty or winds up stepping or rolling in dangerous chemicals like paint or antifreeze. While most cats don’t like baths, you can make the ordeal less painful with some pre-planning.

Try filling the bathtub up before bringing the cat in since cats may panic at the sound of running water. Also trim your cat’s claws so they can’t be razor sharp enough to rip you to shreds when you try to hold it near the water. With a little foresight and a lot of luck, you can make bath time less dangerous while keeping your cat clean.
