For many Americans, the Fourth of July is a time to celebrate with cookouts, get togethers, and fireworks. Unfortunately, fireworks tend to be loud and scary to animals. That’s why animal shelters have reported a large number of dogs and cats that have presumably run away from home after being scared by fireworks.

If you’re missing a pet, check your local animal shelter right away. Many shelters hold stray animals for a fixed amount of time before putting them up for adoption so make sure you look for your furry friend as quickly as possible.
