Dogs (and humans) have no trouble defecating in public and then walking away, leaving their droppings in full view. Cats don’t do that because they take time to cover up their poop.

Of course, cats don’t cover their poop out od cleanliness or because they don’t want the smell of their poop to spread. Instead, covering poop is a way to hide a cat’s presence from predators. So if your cat doesn’t cover its poop, that could mean your cat feels safe enough to leave its poop fully exposed for you to admire and enjoy.
