People love cats. That’s why the Internet exists solely so people can share cat pictures and videos with total strangers all over the planet. Given the popularity of cats, why do we see so few cats in movies and TV shows?

The answer is simple. Cats aren’t easy to train. Even worse, most movies and TV shows are filmed by doing the same scene over and over again. Unfortunately, cats won’t cooperate and perform the exact same actions repetitively, which means directors can’t use any scene with a cat in it since the identical scene filmed later might not have the cat int he same position.

Because movies and TV shows smash multiple scenes together, cats would wreck the scene by appearing in one place in one take of the scene and in a completely different place in a second take of the exact same scene. Thus cats are just a pain in the neck on the set, like most movie stars.
