Despite their reputation for being aloof and uncaring, cats are actually very affectionate as well as being aloof and uncaring. Researchers at Kyoto University in Japan discovered cats can learn human words and even connect the names of human and feline friends with faces.
Even though cats may not show their affection like dogs, they do like humans, especially when humans do their bidding at all times without question. If a cat swipes at you, it may not be mad but just bored and seeing your hand as a convenient toy that just happens to bleed profusely when sliced open.
